Some, no correct that, many!... Say they have tried, and are trying, to build targeted traffic and a following using social media, only to spend hours and hours (Walking through a "Mine Field" eg. getting unfriended, deleted, suspended, blocked or getting negative responses to your "content") for little or no results.
When you first get started you have no experience making money online and no experience in marketing, let alone marketing on the internet and in social networks. At least that's where I was when I started.
Then, I heard about "attraction marketing." After enthusiastically viewing the movie "the Secret," about a year before, I figured this new way of marketing had something to do with that. I had already read a lot of stuff on that and was not sure if I was going to have to read a bunch more stuff!
I did know one thing for sure, there were people making quiet fortunes on the internet while sitting at home in their PJ's (My day job took me to some affluent neighborhoods where I saw and met some of these people who were always very vague about their work). I knew that success leaves clues and I was going to learn from those clues. I wanted out of the mortgage business and did not want to be j. o. b. (Just Over Broke)
This sound like your experience? If your "feeling" this scenario read on because I must tell you this upfront...
Social networks do not give you a second chance to build your brand or reputation.
And...
To be totally upfront, if you do not get this right you're totally DONE before you've even begun.
Building Your Brand, Avoiding The Land Mines...
Before getting into any of the social networks there are some land mines to negotiate when it comes to learning how to go about it. Namely, education & Training.
There's just SO much information, tips, guides, courses, videos, websites and more, on how to promote yourself and your business in online.
If it's not about building a list it's about making great landing pages. If it's not about Twitter, Facebook or MySpace, it's about email marketing, and on and on and on...
It's INFORMATION OVERLOAD!!!
Where do you start? Which method, trick, technique, guru will show you how to do this?
You can get feelings of overwhelm. Burn out.
But everyone who is on the net making their fortune, started with their first step. Everyone who is now successful had to start from scratch.
That doesn't mean you have to be a ...
How To Make A "SPLASH!" In Social Media...
Newbie! The Scourge Of Social Marketing
Newbie... You may have heard that term used to describe someone who is totally new to social marketing and marketing in general. They know nothing about marketing their brand, their products or their company on the internet.
No matter what your business or genre, if done correctly and shrewdly, you can build a profitable brand and attract your target market in online social networks.
...And avoid being a "newbie."
And you do that by...
Differentiating Yourself As A Professional In Social Networks
It all starts with a mind-set adjustment. Newbies join social networks and their mind-set is "make money."
You, however, will approach it with the mind-set of how much "value" you're going to give.
By "value" we mean that which is perceived by your target audience to be informative, useful and relevant to THEIR interests.
It means that others see it as worth their while to join the conversation.
Once you've got the right mind-set you can then begin to set up the basic components of a marketing funnel.
And notice, that's still before you...
Start Thinking About Making Money
Setting income goals are fine. Humans are goal oriented creatures. But that's not where you are right now in the process of building your brand of one. It's not time to think about money at this point.
The newbie mind-set will keep you focused on the wrong things.
Just as revealed in the movie, "The Secret," goals without an emotional attachment fizzle.
Bottom line?
In the wrong mind-set you end up spending all your time and energy on things that actually interfere with your "giving" and becoming a real value to your network.
Then...
When your results are... well let's just say, less than spectacular you then move on to the next "big thing" that's going to do the work for you or make things easier.
Now you've become a consumer, a consumer of GRQ (Get Rich Quick), SEO products, courses, ebooks, etc., not a business person.
This is the textbook profile of a newbie.
Which is why...
You Need To Know The Subtle Differences Between A Newbie And An Educated Beginner
The folks that hang out in social networks are very keen on when they are being pitched. They instinctively know when a "newbie marketer" has entered their midst and they will not tolerate gratuitous spamming... no matter how solid your profile is.
-An educated beginner puts emphasis on education and training on marketing. They will spend 80% of their time on education and 20% on going out and executing.
-A newbie will not see the value in training and learning. They think only about making sales. Making a commission. Recruiting.
Besides that, the only other thing they consider the quickest and easiest way to pitch their deal.
-A shrewd beginner thinks long-term and does not expect to experience steady and effortless success in anything less than a year.
-A smart beginner develops a plan and works diligently from that plan.
-A beginner with the right mind-set is intent on providing value to the communities that they belong to.
They look, listen and evolve their skills in delivering a message that their target audience likes and values.
-The newbie just doesn't have time for all this "plan" stuff. Just shoot that affiliate url all over this big internet and somebody's gonna buy! Right...
-A shrewd beginner takes what they are learning and uses that knowledge to benefit their networking community.
One of the best ways for a beginner to create value is to learn, apply and teach.
Rather than trying to "shotgun" your message to the masses, the smart beginner looks for opportunities for one-on-one contacts and developing new relationships.
They seek contacts before customers.
The newbie is not really learning anything useful.
They're busy using whatever the latest super-duper thingamajig traffic generator or whatever they think will give them an instant buck.
