How To Write Articles That Sell And Generates Leads

Learning how to write articles that sell may seem to many like something that they would never consider. Most people don't feel qualified to write persuasively.

Generating website traffic is the lifeblood of any online business. There are many free methods of generating traffic and leads and article marketing can be very effective if you follow some basic guidelines.

But even with having the basics mastered, there is one thing that you must understand right from the start. Be real. Be original.

There are other reasons for being original than moral or ethical ones.

One reason for being original when writing articles is for search engines. Search engines are very touchy about regurgitated text or copied text. If you hope to have your articles indexed and ranked highly at the top search engines, avoid copying text from other internet sources.

Another reason to be original, and probably the biggest reason, is your audience. To really make a good connection with your readers you must be yourself. People can sense when someone is writing from their own heart and they can sense sincerity.

When your audience feels that they are reading your thoughts they are more likely to click on your money-making links and more likely to accept and follow your recommendations.

How To Write Articles That Sell: An Effective Title

The first job of your title is to attract attention. The title is like a store window. Merchants put items in their windows that lure customers in. So your title must be compelling as you only have a few seconds to attract your prospect's attention.

People are in a hurry and impatient when searching online for information. They do not want to search through your content to see if it is what they were looking for.

Your keyword, your prospect's problem and the solution should be in the title. Whenever it's appropriate, use the keyword again, either completely or one word of it again from the overall phrase.

That title should leave no doubt in the reader's mind as to what the article is about and you should always deliver in your content what the title promises.

How To Write Articles That Sell: Your Article's Construction

The construction of your article is not very complicated at all. One thing you want to keep in mind is that you should always write from the point of view of a solutions provider.

-Begin by touching the emotions of your readers.

-Don't be afraid to use hurtful statistics.

-Never write in the 'about me' mode. Remember, it's all about the reader.

-Don't fill space with fluff, get right to the point. Readers will be in a hurry and you don't want them to hit the back button before reading all the way through.

-Whenever possible, use a points list.

-Avoid closing the article. If you close it out you're saying, "Ok. I'm done. You can hit the back button now."

-Try to write a how to, why or review article.

Article Cosmetics

Don't write an ugly article! What's an ugly article look like? An ugly article looks like a mass of words. To a reader who is impatient to begin with, it just looks too hard to read. They'll just hit the back button.

Here's some tips to avoid that pitfall:

-Use no more than two to three sentences per paragraph.

-Keep sentences relatively short.

-Use subheadings to organize your information.

How To Write Articles That Sell: Constructing A Resource Box

A resource box is the part of an article that gives the reader more information on the author and contact information. This is where you would put your links, email and other information to make it easy to contact you.

A bad resource box is all about the author and how great he is. Remember, it's not about you. It's about your readers. By the time they reach the resource box they are thinking of themselves, not you.

A good guideline to follow when constructing your resource box is to:

-Emphasize the problem again-Give the solution while creating curiosity.-Use hurtful statistics before offering the solution.-So you want to try selling the solution or benefit in the resource box.

And lastly, create curiosity.
